AD-Resyl®: a natural active ingredient for the specialized care of the compromised skin

Effect of AD-Resyl® on the synthesis of fillaggrin

Filaggrin is a protein playing an important role in the formation of the skin barrier, the Stratum Corneum, through the transformation of keratinocytes into corneocytes.

Skin inflammation from atopic dermatitis can cause a decrease in the natural production of filaggrin and the enzyme that breaks down filaggrin into water-binding amino acids (NMFs). Filaggrin-deficient skin is susceptible for increased trans-epidermal water loss and easy penetration of environmental allergens.

When AD-Resyl® is applied topically at 0,15% to compromised reconstructed epidermis subjected to a stress altering the barrier function, the synthesis of fillagrin is boosted by +250%.

AD-Resyl® favors the increase of the NMFs concentrations

Natural Moisturizing Factors, otherwise known as NMFs, is a complex of substances naturally present in the skin that helps keep it smooth, hydrated and healthy-looking. NMFs is essential for appropriate Stratum Corneum hydration, barrier homeostasis and elasticity. It is formed from filaggrin proteolysis to small, hygroscopic molecules including amino acids, lactic acid, free fatty acids, triglycerides, urea, ceramides, phospholipids and many other compounds.

The deficiency or reduction in NMFs is associated with an increased risk of atopic dermatitis and various Stratum Corneum abnormalities that manifest as dry, scaly, sensitive skin.

In vivo clinical study of NMFs

After 60 days of treatment, AD-Resyl® favors the increase of lactates (+84,4%) and serine (+27,2%) concentrations

AD-Resyl® reduces the frequency and intensity of ato-flares

AD-Resyl® is clinically proven that prolongs the remission phase of atopic dermatitis. Three clinical studies were conducted on volunteers with atopic dermatitis. The first two involved Caucasian children and adults and the third involved Asian adults.

Clinical efficacy of AD-Resyl® on atopic skin of Caucasian children experiencing - at least - one flare every two months, for whom a dermocorticoid was prescribed for the treatment of the previous atopic flare.
